Accessible public transport network
Barcelona’s public transport network is already a European benchmark in accessibility. Nevertheless, TMB continues to work to make the whole network more accessible for everyone.
We encourage you to use the information and tools below to plan your journeys around your own personal needs.
Visit Accessibility tools page.
You’ll also find detailed information in the following sections of the website:
Bus network
Since 2007, the bus network is fully adapted for people with reduced mobility.
Buses have:

New buses have wider and more comfortable seats.
Since 2020, with the new fleet, more improvements have been made:

When stations are built or renovated, they are made more accessible.
Some improvements are:
- Ticket machines with voice in the whole network.
- Guided paths for people with visual disabilities in many stations.
- Lifts in most stations (156 out of 165).
Tools to make it easier to use
There are also other tools to help people use the metro:
- A metro map in relief.
- A guide in braille and in print.
These materials are for people with visual disabilities.
They were made with ONCE Catalonia.
You can find them at Punts TMB custommer service offices.
Improvements in the trains
Trains have improved over time.
Now they have:
- Doors marked in red.
- Light and sound signals when doors close.
- A voice that announces the next stop.
Reserved spaces
New trains have better reserved spaces:
- They are wider and more comfortable.
- They have a safety belt.
- They have a button to ask to get off.
- They have signs on the floor.
The driver can see if this space is used by people with wheelchairs or authorized scooters.
In the first and last car, there is an induction loop (to help people with hearing aids).
Information and communication
Information devices are placed at an accessible height for everyone.
There are also screens with information about the next station.
